Neuromodulators

Botox

What are Neuromodulators?

Botox is a neuromodulator, Botulinum Toxin Type A, which is a purified protein complex that is designed to reduce or minimize facial wrinkles and facial expression lines in the areas of which it is applied. Neuromodulators relax the muscles underneath the skin by temporarily blocking the transmission of nerve impulses in the muscles where it is injected.

Who is it for?

If you are 18 years or older, in overall good health, not pregnant or breastfeeding, no history of neuromuscular or neurological disease such as: Lou Gehrig’s, Myasthenia Gravis, or Multiple sclerosis, or have a known hypersensitivity to Botulinum Toxin, interested in reducing dynamic and/or static wrinkles, or suffering from migraines and/or hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Areas that can be treated with Botox:

  • Frown lines or “11’s” between the brows
  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Crows feet
  • Vertical lip lines or “barcode” lines around the mouth
  • Chin dimples
  • TMJ (teeth grinding and clenching)
  • Migraines
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and much more.

What you can expect from Neuromodulators

We strive to achieve a natural outcome in conjunction with your treatment goals. Neuromodulators are applied with a few small injections into the facial muscles. This treatment is quick and comfortable, with little to no recovery time. Anesthetic is not required for this procedure. You will see results as soon as three days and full results at two weeks. Botox lasts up to 3 to 4 months.

Dermal Filler Injections

Juvederm •Teosyal
As we age there are normal degenerative changes within our facial layers, including bone, fat, muscle, ligament and skin. As our facial pads decrease in volume, we begin to lose support to the skin and the ligaments begin to draw down giving us that aging “sag”. Sun exposure, hormonal changes, and normal ageing changes can impact our appearance immensely. Dermal fillers can take years off of your appearance by restoring volume and fullness which can be help diminish the appearance of facial lines and creases as well as lift, contour and enhance facial features such as cheeks, chin jawlines and lips (to name a few)

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are smooth gels made of natural hyaluronic acid, a sugar molecule that is naturally occurring in your skin and is a major structural component of our dermis. Hyaluronic acid can hold up to several times its weight in water and is responsible for giving skin its plumpness and volume. Each type of dermal filler has unique characteristics, which influence what location on the face they are best injected, what level they should be injected in, and their longevity after injection. Generally speaking, fillers are proven to last from 6 months to 2 years. Outcomes and longevity vary from patient to patient are influenced by the location of the area treated, the individual properties of the filler used, age of the patient and the individual characteristics of the patient’s skin and lifestyle.

Candidacy for Dermal Fillers

If you are 18 years old or older, in overall good health, no active infection, not pregnant or breastfeeding, no existing autoimmune disease (e.g., Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ulcerative Colitis), on any currently immunosuppressants, known allergy to Lidocaine, allergies to bees or wasps, any history of severe allergies and/or anaphylaxis, no dental work two weeks prior/after your appt.

Areas that can be treated with dermal fillers:

  • Lip enhancement
  • Nasolabial folds (smile/laugh lines)
  • Tear troughs (under eye hollows)
  • Cheek enhancement
  • Jawline
  • Chin
  • Marionette lines
  • Other – a complimentary consultation is best to determine which treatment areas are best suited for you

Dermal fillers should look natural. Our goal is to restore lost volume and enhance natural features to create more balance and symmetry where needed

What to expect?

Treatment times vary depending on the area(s) being treated but usually range between 30-60 mins. Product, injection technique and price is determined prior to the procedure by your injector based on what is most appropriate for the area being treated with your goals in mind. Topical numbing cream and ice packs are applied for comfort during the procedure. Once treatment is done, you can ice the area as needed to reduce any swelling or bruising, arnica can be taken to reduce any potential bruising and Tylenol can be taken unless otherwise directed by a physician.

Skin Boosters

What are skin boosters?

Skin boosters are very fine dermal fillers that are injected into the more superficial layers of the skin, just below the surface, and are designed to improve the quality of the skin by improving its elasticity, hydration and smoothness. You will see a noticeable improvement in fine lines, skin texture, and hydration. They are used for skin redensification and work by further stimulating the natural formation of collagen and elastin as well as binding to water thus giving the skin intense hydration.

Candidacy for Skin Boosters

If you are 18 years old or older, in overall good health, no active infection, not pregnant or breastfeeding, if you are looking for skin hydration or an improvement in elasticity and texture, an improvement in skin radiance, and an increase in collagen, this treatment is for you.

What to expect?

Downtime with skin boosters are typically very mild and usually subside in one to two days. They can include some redness, mild bruising, and mild swelling. You will see some results immediately after treatment, but effects will really kick in around two weeks or up to 3 months to get the full effect of skin boosters. You will gradually notice your moisturizer lasting longer throughout the day, an increasing glow, and diminished pores and fine lines. These results are best maintained with regular treatments annually.

Belkyra

What is Belkyra?

Belkyra is a synthetic form of Deoxycholic Acid, which is a naturally occurring substance found in our own bodies which aids in the breakdown of dietary fat. When injected it destroys the fat cell, which is then naturally absorbed into the body and eliminated. Belkyra is used to contour and improve the appearance of submental fullness that creates a “double chin”.

Candidacy for Belkyra

If you are 18 years or older, in overall good health, not pregnant or breastfeeding, in those who have a current or previous history of dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), and if you have mild, moderate to severe submental fullness (double chin) and don’t want to get surgery.

What to expect?

Belkyra is administered by small injections into the fat under the chin, each treatment is typically 15-20 minutes in length. The number of treatment sessions varies based on the amount and surface area of fat under the chin, as well as your treatment goals. Swelling is a common symptom post injections and ice will be applied before and after treatment for your comfort. You will experience some swelling and tenderness post-treatment and for a few days. Treatments are approximately 6-8 weeks apart, or as per discussion with your practitioner.

PRP Injections

What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is found in your blood and consists of a high concentration of platelets, stem cells and growth factors, which are effective at stimulating new and healthy tissue growth. PRP activates the stem cells that lie dormant in the skin and when injected into the face it can help promote collagen and elastin growth, regenerate tissue growth, enhance microcirculation, and therefore act to naturally smooth and tighten the skin. The highest quality PRP is harvested from your own blood, providing a naturally occurring injectable for cellular support. The concentrated platelets and included growth factors can be utilized for facial rejuvenation, hair restoration.

Candidates for PRP Injections

If you are 18 years or older, in overall good health, not pregnant or breastfeeding, this treatment is not ideal for those who have blood disorders, undergoing anticoagulation therapy, anemia or an active infection, anyone undergoing current chemotherapy, ideal for hair restoration: those who are the beginning stages of thinning hair, that still have partially active hair follicles. Those with advanced hair loss or inactive follicles may have slower results and require more treatments.

What to Expect?

The treatment itself will take approximately 45 minutes due to the preparation time. PRP is an autologous treatment, meaning that is only your cells being put back into the skin. We begin first by drawing your blood, which is then spun in a centrifuge that separates the PRP from the red blood cells. Depending on your treatment choice we can apply the PRP on top of the skin with a micro-needling treatment, injected directly into the area for hair restoration or injected underneath the skin for volume and skin rejuvenation (this works best in areas of “crepey skin” or fine lines). Recovery time can be anything from a few hours to a few days depending on treatment. You can expect to be red for 12-24 hours if you choose microneedling. Results of PRP in 1-2 weeks after the treatment, hair restoration results can vary and can be discussed during a personal consultation with your provider. Results can be gradual with PRP as the process of renewal can go on for up to a month after the procedure.

Aqua Gold

What is Aqua Gold Treatment?

Aqua Gold is a 24k gold micro-channeling device that is used on the face to deliver a personalized cocktail of Botox and HA filler into the deeper layers of the skin. It enhances skin hydration, plumps, minimizes fine lines and softens the skin’s texture. Similar to microneedling, the gold plated micro injecting technique also stimulates collagen production.

Candidates for Aqua Gold

This treatment is suitable for all skin types. It is great for events or even for regular skin maintenance as it rejuvenates, brightens and hydrates the skin to give a dewy airbrushed appearance.

What to Expect?

Aqua Gold has little to no downtime and some results can be seen immediately. Best results can be expected in 2 weeks and last from 2-4 months.

How Do I Prepare for Filler Injections?

There are some steps you can take to prepare for your injections in order to reduce post-treatment swelling and bruising at the injection site:

  • Avoid certain medications. Your doctor will discuss with you what specific medications to avoid, but these generally include over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen and aspirin, which can thin the blood, and supplements such as St. John’s Wort, gingko biloba, and ginseng. You should stop taking these medications a week before your injections.
  • Avoid certain products. At least 2 days before your injections, you should stop using products that contain retinol or glycolic acid (“anti-aging” products). You should also stop using hair removal cream on the area to be treated, and don’t bleach, wax, or tweeze the area, either.
  • Avoid alcohol. You should stop drinking alcohol at least 24 hours before your injections.

What Are the Benefits of PRP for Skin and Hair?

The main benefit to a PRP procedure stems from the fact that PRP is a natural treatment, and the cells involved are from your own body. This means there is no risk of rejection. It is safe, with no long-term side effects. Another benefit is how effective it is, for both skin and hair; it stimulates new follicular hair growth, improves skin tone and texture, and reduces the appearance of scars, lines, and pores. A PRP treatment doesn’t take very long – it typically only takes 45 minutes. Patients report these treatments are relatively painless. You’ll start to see results within 1 to 2 weeks, and you’ll continue to see results build for about a month.

Can I Combine Non-Surgical Skin Services?

Dr. Frank and his staff want to help you achieve your skincare goals, and to do this they may suggest more than one skin treatment.

For instance, dermal fillers can add volume and reduce lines and wrinkles, but they don’t encourage new skin to grow. However, when you combine PRP and dermal fillers, the results from your dermal fillers will last longer and look more natural, and so you may be advised to combine these services.

How Do I Maintain the Results of My Professional Skin Treatments?

Your skincare expert will advise you on how to maintain the results of your treatment, but here are some general rules to keep in mind:

  • Avoid sunlight. And when you do go outside, wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Your skin will be extra sensitive after a skin treatment, and so you will be more susceptible to sun damage.
  • Don’t smoke. If you smoke, it is more difficult for your body to heal properly after a skin treatment. Blood flow is decreased and inflammation is inhibited, which not only puts you at risk of infection or other problems, but also makes it difficult for your skin to look its best!
  • Maintain a regular skincare regimen. The first week or so after your procedure, your skin may be extra sensitive, so avoid products that may irritate your skin, such as exfoliators, scrubs, and alcohol-based toners. Use gentle products, such as a mild cleanser, a moisturizer, and, of course, sunscreen.

FAQ

How Often Should Someone Get a Facial?

Facials are designed to rejuvenate your skin from the inside out. In general, it is best to schedule your facials every three to four weeks, or once a month. Keep in mind that everyone’s skin is different, so make sure that you are not scheduling your facials too close together. Having facials too often can strip your skin’s natural oils.

Can Men Get Facials?

Yes, men can get facials. In fact, it is recommended that they have facials just as often as their female counterparts to keep their skin healthy. Regular facials can also address some of the most common skincare concerns men have, which include:

  • Razor burn.
  • Ingrown hairs.
  • Skin texture.

Essential Products for Skincare

The products you use are just as important as how you take care of your skin. In general, you should have:

  • A gentle cleanser that effectively removes dirt and impurities.
  • Toner that helps to balance your skin’s natural pH levels.
  • Serums: Serums are concentrated skincare products that target the most common skin concerns like wrinkles, fine lines, and uneven skin spots.
  • Moisturizer: Moisturizers hydrate your skin and keep it looking younger. Choose one that is made for your skin type.

How Often Should I Exfoliate?

Everyone’s skin is different. Some people have oily skin while others have normal-to-dry skin. As such, it is important to exfoliate based on your skin type:

  • Oily Skin: Two to three times a week.
  • Sensitive skin: Once every two weeks.
  • Normal skin: Once or twice a week.
