Three Cosmetic Procedures With Minimal Downtime

While the world of plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures may invoke images of scalpels, bandages and long hospitals stays, advances in technology offer alternatives to traditional, invasive techniques. There are a number of cosmetic procedures available that can be performed in a matter of hours (or sometimes, even minutes) and require little recovery time.
Here is a look at just a few of them:
- Blepharoplasty: Also known as eyelid surgery, this procedure rejuvenates the appearance of the eye area. One of the most convenient and popular cosmetic surgery procedures, blepharoplasty improves puffy, sagging or tired-looking eyes by removing excess fat and skin and muscle from the upper or lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty is performed in-office, using local anesthesia and can take as little as 45 minutes to perform. Immediately following the procedure, patients can return home. Since stitches are removed after three or four days, and most patients return to work within 10 days patients may be able to undergo the procedure and recovery during a typical vacation period. Although blepharoplasty requires little downtime, the results of the procedure are noticeable and long-lasting. In some cases, results are even permanent, making blepharoplasty a worthwhile time investment.
- Dermal Fillers and Injectables: There is a reason why BOTOX® is the most common cosmetic procedure performed throughout the world year after year–the injections take just a few minutes to administer, and patients leave the office with a refreshed appearance, ready to go about their day. Injectable facial fillers are widely used to restore volume to facial features and fill in lines including crow’s feet around the eyes, as well as brow and forehead creases. While the results of each treatment depend on a number of factors, including the type of filler used and the makeup of each individual’s skin and tissues, most fillers last several months, and some as long as a year.
- Scar Revision: Scar revision is a procedure that reduces the appearance of a scar from a previous injury or surgery. Some scars may benefit from being surgically removed. These treatments are performed on an outpatient basis, and require little or no downtime.
